Sibelius: Symphony No.2
The SSO is honored to perform our Opening Concert during the 2012 All Arts Festival! This performance features John Williams' most iconic sound track, Star Wars, and Sibelius' famous second symphony, considered by most to be in the top twenty symphonies. Symphony No.2 was started in winter of 1900 in Italy and finished in 1902 in Finland. It was first performed by the Helsinki Philharmonic Society on March 8, 1902, with the composer conducting.

Schubert: Unfinished Symphony

Holiday Favorites featuring Steamboat's young musicians followed by our traditional Sing-Along
Get into the Holiday Spirit on December 1 and 2 as the SSO performs Franz Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony". The work is often referred to as the first romantic symphony, because of its emphasis on expressive melody, vivid harmony and creative combinations of orchestral tone color. The concert also features Steamboat's own, young musicians and ends with the popular Sing-Along!
