The mission of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra is to promote orchestral music in the Yampa Valley by providing professional quality performances and educational experiences for community musicians of all ages.

This is accomplished by providing an outstanding resident orchestra with a community component to provide entertainment and education to the region and by offering a high quality educational program to foster the love of the art-form of classical music to residents of all ages.

What began in the autumn of 1991 as a charming community ensemble has transformed in the last several years into a thriving orchestra with a majority of local professional core players with a surprising depth of experience. SSO includes a Woodwind Quintet and String Quartet, which perform regularly at special events on behalf of SSO.

Concertmaster Teresa Steffen Greenlee

TERESA STEFFEN GREENLEE is the Concertmaster of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly as first violinist of the Steamboat String Quartet. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Wisconsin School of Music and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School. While living in Madison, Wisconsin, Teresa played in both the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Residing in Steamboat Springs for the past 15 years, Teresa has been on the front lines in the growth and development of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra and its education programs. She maintains a private music studio of over 25 violin and viola students and is committed to helping to create an exceptional learning environment for local classical musicians.
