Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto & Symphony No. 5
and an encore presentation fiddling medley performed by the Steamboat Youth Orchestra
Welcome to the Tchaikovsky Spectacular! Prepare yourself for another entertaining and enlightening evening of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, one of Colorado's best regional orchestras in the beautiful mountain resort town of Steamboat Springs! Conducted by Ernest Richardson, music director of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, as well as the resident conductor of the Omaha Symphony, audiences know to drop expectations and prepare to be delighted and informed. Working in collaboration with Strings in the Mountains for the first time ever, the SSO is proud to welcome co-music director of Strings in the Mountains, Monique Mead, to the stage, who will be playing what is considered the most famous and difficult piece ever written for the violin, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. The SSO will also play Symphony No. 5 and for a special encore educational outreach highlight, up to seventy-five youth will join the SSO onstage to perform a fiddling medley to the delight of our embracing community!
